Windows 7 Professional/64bit, Service Pack 1 I am one to admit my love for computers has diminished allot over the last 20 years as this in one of many technical problems that plaque me on a daily basis.Īny advice toward a solution would be appreciated (other than the obvious, which is keep Excel on the Right Monitor). With Excel on the left monitor, open a dialog that becomes hidden and I am toast. In the haste of the day and many different windows open on the screens sometimes I get caught I have multiple monitors, and if I keep Excel on the right, then the dialog opens on the left monitor and I can create the name, close the dialog etc. at least now I am aware that "Escape" will close the dialog and get me back. I can't do anything except kill the Excel Application with the Task Manager and for example, when I open the Excel Name Manager, then Dialog opens in the background and Excel Freezes. I have the same problem and none of the solutions I have heard work. Users have reported it's sporadic and comes and goes. The other item with this issue is that it's not persistent. With other dialog boxes as well, not just the SaveAs so it seems generic in that sense. Even more strange is that this does not occur to everyone, just a handful of users so far who have reported the issue. In their main monitor and/or the monitor that Excel is opened in and which has the focus. The only other variable here is that all these users have multiple monitors, usually 2-4. It is very unproductive and a nuisance to say the least. Understandably this is causing these users stress and inconvenience. The only way to restore it is to click on the tab from the Taskbar or minimize all the windows to FIND the SaveAs Dialog box. On closer scrutiny we realized what was happening was the SaveAs dialog box was BEHIND the main Excel window. Noticed with some users though - not all - just a small percentage, when they click SaveAs in Excel 2010, the applicationįreezes. Have hundreds of users that we support and so far most have upgraded.
